Eastern Snake-necked Turtle

Chelodina longicollis

Location: Macleod Village Public Toilet, Erskine Road, Macleod

Also known as the Eastern Snake-necked Turtle, they live in freshwater habitats including wetlands. Although they are common, freshwater ecosystems and their inhabitants are vulnerable to many threats and need more protection. They are found in Victoria and also in Queensland, New South Wales, and south-eastern South Australia.
